Rules of Entry

Closing date for receipt of entries: 15 January 2027 23:59 BST

Submission Format

  • No more than 14 lines per poem.

  • Enter online or by post. Email entries will not be accepted.

  • Poems must be written in English.

  • Submissions should be in Word or PDF format and fit on a single A4 page.

  • Do not include your name, or any identifying details on the document itself, as entries are judged anonymously.

  • You may enter as many poems as you like.

  • Entry fees are non-refundable.

  • For postal entries, enter each poem on an individual page and provide your contact details separately, along with the title(s) of your poems.

Eligibility

  • Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must not have been published, self-published, posted online, shared on social media, broadcast or previously placed in another competition before 15 January 2027.

  • Not open to anyone involved in organising the competition.

  • Poems created, substantially edited or enhanced using ChatGPT or any other AI text-generation tool are not eligible.

  • Entrants must be at least 11 years old.

  • Anyone who is 18 years old before 15 January 2027 must enter the Open category.

  • The Channel Islands category is open to people born or currently living in the Channel Islands only.

  • Any entries not following the rules of entry will be disqualified.

Copyright & Rights

Authors retain copyright of their work. By entering, you grant the Guernsey International Poetry Competition the right to publish winning poems in the 2027 Poems on the Move Exhibition, website and related promotional material.

Results & Prizes

All winners will be notified by 15 March 2027, and the Winners’ List will be published on the competition website and social media. All prize money will be paid in sterling.

How to Enter

Entries are £5 per poem or 3 poems for £12.
Young People’s Poetry: FREE
Fees are non-refundable.

  1. ONLINE: Submit your entry and pay securely online.

  2. BY POST: Poems on the Move 2027, PO Box 174, St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands, GY1 3LG.

For postal submissions, send your typed poems, printed individually on A4 paper. Enclose £5 per poem (£12 for 3) cheque/postal order in sterling (GBP), made payable to “GLF - Poems on the Move’ with the sender’s name and address on the back.
