dawn the sky is splattered
by my juicy mandarin,
the sea a mirror
of tears soon to fall.

watching —
we capture the skyline,
grey lines folding like pursed lips.

wrapped in thick ash and two woven wings,
the sun sets a foot on our city
one eye blending
across an open sea.
